01 — The brand01

Three places on the Alentejo coast, built slowly.

Valedra Developments was founded in Lisbon in 2014 by the architect Inês Valedra and the developer Duarte Sá Carneiro. It builds low-rise houses on the Comporta and Melides coast with named Portuguese and Scandinavian architects, leaves more than a third of every site as protected dune, and releases plots a few at a time.

The brand’s tone is quiet and slightly literary. It does not talk about luxury; it talks about the light at five o’clock, the distance to the beach in minutes, and the pine that was replanted. That restraint had to survive the translation into a website, where the temptation is always to shout.

02 — The challenge02

Make a buyer who trusts nothing request a private viewing.

The audience is second-home buyers from Lisbon, London, Zürich and São Paulo, often through advisers. They have seen a hundred developer sites with drone footage and gold serif type and trust none of them. The site had to earn credibility through specificity: real plots, real areas, real prices, a plan you can read.

Commercially, the objective is a single conversion: a request for a private viewing or a brochure, addressed to a named person at the sales suite. Everything else on the site exists to make that request feel like a natural next step rather than a leap.

03 — Creative direction03

Architectural monochrome, warmed by limestone.

The palette is the site itself: limestone for the page, dune for the secondary surfaces, an estuary slate for water and the night sections, and ink for text. There is no pure white and no blue. The sea in this region is grey-green in the afternoon and that is what it is on screen.

Marcellus, a Roman capital face, carries the display typography in tracked capitals; Instrument Sans does the reading; Geist Mono carries plot numbers, coordinates and prices in tabular figures. Compositions are long and horizontal with low horizons and very little on screen at once. Imagery was rendered in-repo under one photographic direction: 35mm, late afternoon, long shadows, the ocean always at the left of the frame.

04 — UX thinking04

The masterplan is the information architecture.

Rather than a marketing funnel of hero, features and testimonials, the site is organised like a place. Home introduces the coast and the three developments; each development page is a deep, self-contained experience organised around its plan; availability, typologies, materials and location all hang off the same plot data.

Conversion architecture is deliberately calm. The private-viewing invitation appears at the end of every development page and on the home page, addressed to the head of sales by name, with a form that asks only what a sales team actually needs.

05 — Signature interaction05

A site plan that rises into a building.

On the Casa das Dunas page a pinned section begins as an ink line drawing of the site: plot boundaries, the access road, the dune line, the pine clusters, the sea edge. The lines draw themselves. As the visitor scrolls, the plan tilts and the fourteen houses rise from their footprints as limestone massing volumes in a Three.js scene built from the same footprint coordinates as the SVG.

Once risen, the model is a tool: hovering a house lifts it and shows plot, typology, area, price and status; selecting one scrolls the availability table to its row, and selecting a row selects the house. On touch devices the plan is an SVG with a bottom sheet per plot and an optional full-screen orbit view. Without WebGL the plan remains fully interactive on its own.

06 — Motion06

Tidal. Nothing bounces, nothing floats.

Reveals take between 1.2 and 1.8 seconds on an exponential ease. The opening image is unmasked from the horizon line outward, up and down at once. Section titles arrive letter-spaced and settle to their final tracking. Long images parallax by a few percent, slower than their captions, so depth reads as distance rather than decoration.

The page transition is a limestone wipe. With reduced motion enabled, the masterplan is shown at its final state, parallax is removed and only short opacity fades remain.

07 — Technology07

One set of plot data, drawn twice.

A single plan-data module holds the footprint polygons, road curve and dune line. The SVG plan and the Three.js massing model are both generated from it, so the plan you read and the model you explore can never disagree. Massing volumes are extruded from the footprints and lit with one warm directional light and a soft shadow.

Scroll drives the camera and the rise through GSAP ScrollTrigger with Lenis for smooth scrolling. The renderer caps device pixel ratio at two, pauses off-screen and disposes on navigation. All imagery was composed in canvas and SVG and rendered to grain-treated rasters in the repository; no stock was used.

08 — Key screens08

Desktop and mobile.

Screens captured from the built site at 1440 and 390 pixels wide.

09 — Final experience09

A developer site that behaves like the place it sells.

The finished experience is slow where the brand is slow and exact where a buyer needs exactness. It is the difference between being told a development is beautiful and being handed the plan.
