Destinations
Five countries. Five different problems.
They are not interchangeable and the difference is not the weather. Each has its own regulator, its own language bar, its own money and its own wait. Choose the one whose hardest part you can actually survive.
Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick
The shortest honest route to an English-speaking career.
Ireland is where we place most people, for one unromantic reason: NMBI decides faster than any other regulator on this page, and the employer pays your registration fee before you fly. It is also the most expensive place to find a room, and we would rather you knew that in month one than month nine.
The regulator
NMBI decides in twelve to sixteen weeks from a complete file. “Complete” is doing a lot of work in that sentence — the usual delay is a former employer taking two months to answer a verification letter, which is why we chase yours weekly from day one.
The money
The HSE staff nurse scale runs €35,919 to €54,000, with premiums for nights and weekends on top. Private and voluntary hospitals sit close to it. A staff nurse working a normal rota with unsocial hours takes home meaningfully more than the headline.
The catch
Dublin rent. A room in a shared house is €700 to €950 a month and landlords want a local payslip you do not yet have. Every Irish role we advertise includes employer accommodation for the first four to twelve weeks, and we will not list one that does not.
Ontario and Alberta
Permanent residence from the start — and a year of waiting for it.
Canada gives you more than a job: on most of our routes you land as a permanent resident, with your family, with school places and healthcare from the first week. What it asks in return is patience, because the credential assessment sits with a third party and no amount of chasing moves it.
The regulator
NNAS compares your education against Canadian standards before any provincial college looks at you: twenty to thirty-six weeks, depending on how quickly your university answers their letters. Then CNO in Ontario or CARNA in Alberta registers you. We start NNAS the week you accept an offer.
The money
CAD 74,000 to 98,000 under the Ontario Nurses Association agreement, with eight years to the top of the grid. Alberta pays a little more and costs less to live in, which is why more of our Canadian placements end up in Red Deer and Lethbridge than in Toronto.
The catch
The wait, and the winter. Twelve to eighteen months is normal and we will not quote you less. Budget CAD 600 for a coat and boots that actually work, and CAD 2,500 for your first month before payroll catches up with you.
Berlin, Leipzig, Dortmund
Where the hard part is language, not nursing.
German hospitals will take your clinical experience seriously and pay you on a collective agreement nobody can undercut. They will also expect you to hand over at a shift change in German, and no employer, agency or goodwill gets around that. We fund a twelve-week B2 course and we will not place you without it.
The regulator
Recognition — Anerkennung — is decided by the state, not a national body, and it takes sixteen to twenty-eight weeks. You arrive on a §16d recognition visa, work on the same rota as an assistant, and move to full Pflegefachkraft pay when the decision lands, usually within seven months.
The money
€3,300 to €4,200 a month gross on TVöD-P, plus shift allowances. There is no negotiation, which cuts both ways: nobody can offer you more, and nobody can pay you less than the person standing next to you.
The catch
B1 to apply, B2 to register. Nurses who arrive short of B2 and plan to pick up the rest on the ward stall at the recognition exam, sometimes for a year. This is the single most common way a German placement goes wrong and it is entirely preventable.
New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia
The best pay per hour, and an assessment that means it.
Australia pays more per worked hour than anywhere else on this page and adds 11.5% superannuation you actually keep. AHPRA, in return, runs the most searching assessment of the five — and since 2020 it has been outcomes-based, which means a qualification that was fine ten years ago may now come with an exam attached.
The regulator
AHPRA assesses whether your qualification is substantially equivalent. If it is, you register directly. If it is not, you sit a multiple-choice exam and an objective structured clinical examination, both in Australia, on a bridging arrangement the employer funds. We tell you which of the two you are looking at before you apply.
The money
AUD 72,000 to 95,000 on the NSW award, year one to year eight, plus superannuation. Regional posts add incentive payments of about AUD 6,000 and halve your rent, which is why we place more people in Newcastle and Townsville than in Sydney.
The catch
Distance. It is a twenty-four hour flight and a seven-to-eleven hour time difference from most of the countries we recruit in, and that matters more than people expect in the first year. Ask us about the compassionate leave clause before you sign.
Dubai and Abu Dhabi
The fastest route — and the one where you must read the package.
Three to five months from first conversation to first shift, because the licence and the visa are both driven by the employer rather than a national queue. It is also the only destination here where the salary line tells you almost nothing useful, because housing, transport and flights are worth more than the difference between two offers.
The regulator
DHA in Dubai, DOH in Abu Dhabi, MOHAP elsewhere: three separate licences, and we apply for the right one. All three want two years of post-registration experience and Dataflow primary-source verification of everything you have been issued. Start Dataflow first; it is the longest item.
The money
AED 8,000 to 14,000 a month, tax free, normally with shared accommodation, transport and an annual flight home. A post at AED 9,000 with housing beats one at AED 12,000 without it by about AED 4,500 a month, and that is the calculation we do with you.
The catch
It is a two-year contract in a country where your residence depends on your employer. We read the repayment clause with you before you interview, we keep a copy, and we will tell you plainly if we think a clause is unreasonable.
