Reed, and the men who cut it

The thatch on all forty-five houses comes off two hundred hectares of Sado marsh, cut between December and February by four families in Carrasqueira. We went out with them in the cold to see how it is done, and to ask what happens when they stop.

Three letters a year

We print the journal twice a year and post it, because it is better on paper and because it means we have to be sure it is worth the stamp. If you would like it, ask Sofia when you write — there is no form for it, and no list anyone is sold.
